Upon arrival in Kathmandu, a representative of Bold Himalaya will warmly welcome you and transfer you to the hotel. You can either rest or explore the vibrant city of the Kathmandu Valley. In the evening, you will have a brief overview of your tour and meet your guide. Overnight in Kathmandu.

Your Upper Mustang Trek begins with a scenic drive from Kathmandu to Pokhara, a beautiful lakeside city surrounded by green hills and views of the Himalayas. You'll travel along the Prithvi Highway, following winding roads beside rivers, terraced fields, and traditional villages. The drive usually takes around 6-8 hours, depending on traffic and road conditions. After arriving in Pokhara, check into your hotel, relax, explore the lakeside area, or enjoy views of Phewa Lake before heading to Upper Mustang the next day.

The drive covers approximately 200 km via the Prithvi Highway, passing through river valleys and hillside settlements before reaching Pokhara.

Today, you'll take an early morning flight to Jomsom, enjoying beautiful aerial views of the Annapurna and Dhaulagiri mountain ranges.

Upon arrival in Jomsom, you'll begin your trek toward Kagbeni, following the Kali Gandaki River through a dry, windswept landscape surrounded by rocky hills and snow-capped peaks. The trail passes through traditional settlements and offers your first glimpse of the unique Mustang region.

After around 3-4 hours of walking, you'll reach Kagbeni, a charming medieval-style village with narrow alleys, mud-brick houses, and ancient monasteries. As the gateway to Upper Mustang, Kagbeni is also where you'll complete the necessary restricted-area permit formalities before continuing your journey.

After breakfast, you'll leave Kagbeni and enter the restricted Upper Mustang region, where you'll need your special permit to continue. The trail follows the Kali Gandaki Valley through a dry, dramatic landscape of red cliffs, eroded rock formations, and barren hills. You'll pass small settlements and cross the river before gradually ascending toward Tangbe, a traditional village known for its whitewashed houses, narrow alleys, and apple orchards.

Continuing through the rugged terrain, you'll reach Chhusang before crossing the Kali Gandaki River and climbing toward Chele. After around 5-6 hours of walking, you'll arrive at Chele, a quiet mountain village where you can rest overnight and prepare for the next day's trek.

You'll leave Chele and continue through the rugged landscapes of Upper Mustang. The trail climbs steadily along rocky hillsides, crossing several high passes and offering impressive views of deep valleys and colorful cliffs. Along the way, you'll pass Samar, a traditional village surrounded by barren hills, where you can take a short break before continuing the journey.

You'll then follow the trail through dry landscapes and small settlements, gradually gaining altitude as you approach Syangboche. After around 6-7 hours of walking, you'll reach Syangboche, where you'll spend the night in a local teahouse and rest for the next day's adventure.

After breakfast, you'll continue your journey through the dramatic landscapes of Upper Mustang, following rocky trails and dry mountain slopes toward Ghemi. You'll cross the Nyi La Pass, enjoying panoramic views of the surrounding mountains and deep valleys before descending toward the Mustang plateau. Along the way, you'll pass traditional villages, colorful rock formations, and ancient Buddhist chortens that reflect the region's rich Tibetan-influenced culture.

As you approach Ghemi, you'll see its whitewashed houses clustered against the barren hillsides. Ghemi is also famous for its long mani wall, one of the notable cultural landmarks along the Upper Mustang trail. Overnight in Ghemi.

Today, you’ll leave Ghemi and continue your trek through the striking landscapes of Upper Mustang. You'll pass the long mani wall and follow a trail that winds through barren hills, rocky cliffs, and open valleys. Along the way, you'll cross small streams and enjoy views of the surrounding mountains before gradually ascending and descending toward Tsarang. As you approach the village, you'll notice its traditional whitewashed houses, ancient monasteries, and impressive hilltop structures.

Tsarang is known for its historic five-story monastery and the remains of an old royal palace, offering a glimpse into Mustang's rich Tibetan Buddhist heritage. After around 4-5 hours of walking, you'll arrive in Tsarang.

Continuing the trek, you’ll move toward Lo Manthang, the historic walled city and cultural heart of Upper Mustang. The trail crosses a dry, open landscape with rolling hills, rocky cliffs, and wide views of the Himalayan plateau. Along the way, you'll pass traditional settlements and gradually approach the ancient city, where whitewashed buildings and mud-brick walls stand against the barren mountain scenery. 

Upon reaching Lo Manthang, you'll explore its distinctive medieval atmosphere, narrow alleys, and centuries-old monasteries. This former royal capital is known for its Tibetan Buddhist heritage, traditional architecture, and unique culture. After around 4-5 hours of walking, you'll stay overnight in a local teahouse.

Today, you’ll spend the day exploring Lo Manthang, the ancient walled city and cultural center of Upper Mustang. You will walk through narrow alleys lined with traditional mud-brick houses and visit historic monasteries such as Jampa Lhakhang, Thubchen Gompa, and Chode Gompa, known for their Buddhist artwork, murals, and religious significance.

You’ll also have time to explore the former royal palace and observe the daily life and traditions of the local Loba people. If you have time and conditions, you can take a short excursion to a nearby village or visit the surrounding caves carved into the cliffs.

After breakfast, you'll leave Lo Manthang and follow a scenic trail through the rugged landscapes of Upper Mustang toward Dhakmar. The route passes through open valleys, dry hills, and colorful rock formations that make this region so distinctive. Along the way, you'll enjoy views of the surrounding Himalayan terrain and pass traditional settlements that reflect Mustang's Tibetan-influenced culture. 

Depending on the route you take, you may cross high passes and visit Ghar Gompa, an ancient monastery associated with Guru Rinpoche. As you approach Dhakmar, you'll notice its striking red cliffs, which create one of the most memorable landscapes in Upper Mustang.

After breakfast, you'll leave Dhakmar and continue your journey through the dry, rugged landscapes of Upper Mustang toward Ghiling. The trail winds past red cliffs, rocky hills, and open valleys, offering beautiful views of the region's distinctive terrain. You'll gradually make your way through remote paths and traditional villages, experiencing the peaceful atmosphere and Tibetan-influenced culture of Mustang. 

Along the way, you'll cross high ridges and descend through barren hills before reaching Ghiling, a traditional village known for its whitewashed houses, ancient monastery, and surrounding fields. Overnight in Ghiling.

Leaving Ghiling, you'll follow the trail south through Mustang's dry mountain terrain, where rocky ridges, scattered villages, and distant Himalayan peaks shape the landscape. The route takes you through traditional settlements and across winding paths, with opportunities to observe local farming practices and the distinctive architecture of Mustang. As you descend toward Chhusang, the scenery gradually changes to dramatic red and orange cliffs carved by wind and water. 

You'll reach Chhusang, a village near the Kali Gandaki River known for its unusual rock formations and caves in the surrounding cliffs. After approximately 6-7 hours of walking, you'll settle into a local teahouse in Chhusang.

Today, you'll continue south from Chhusang, following the Kali Gandaki Valley toward Jomsom. The trail passes through the villages of Tangbe and Kagbeni, where you can notice the changing landscape, traditional stone houses, and whitewashed buildings set against the dry mountain slopes. You'll follow sections of the river valley, surrounded by rugged cliffs and views of the Nilgiri and other Himalayan peaks. 

After passing Kagbeni, you'll continue along the broad, windswept valley toward Jomsom, the main town of the Mustang region. Overnight in Jomsom.

After breakfast, you'll head to Jomsom Airport for a scenic morning flight to Pokhara. During the short flight, you'll enjoy breathtaking aerial views of the Annapurna and Dhaulagiri mountain ranges, deep river valleys, and the dramatic Himalayan landscape you have just explored. Once you arrive in Pokhara, you'll transfer to your hotel and have the rest of the day free to relax or explore the lakeside area, enjoy local restaurants, and unwind after your Upper Mustang adventure.

Note: If you prefer not to fly, you can also travel from Jomsom to Pokhara by road. The drive takes longer and depends on road conditions, but it offers another way to enjoy the landscapes of the Mustang and Annapurna regions.

Leaving Pokhara, you'll drive back to Kathmandu along the Prithvi Highway. Enjoy the final views of Nepal's beautiful countryside as you pass green hills, terraced fields, rivers, and small roadside settlements. The journey usually takes around 6-8 hours, depending on traffic and road conditions. Upon arrival in Kathmandu, you'll transfer to your hotel and have time to relax after completing your memorable Upper Mustang Trek.

Today marks the end of your memorable Upper Mustang Trek. After breakfast, you will have some free time, depending on your flight schedule. Our team will transfer you from your hotel to Tribhuvan International Airport in Kathmandu for your departure flight.
