A carefully planned trip. We were met in Istanbul and immediately (after settling in) the first day program was started. In 3 days we visited palaces, mosques and even islands, and before we knew it it was time to fly to Cappadocia. Cappadocia itself is a separate story - a country of fairy tales with bizarre "chimneys" and canyons. We hiked a lot (but not heavily) on the tour, and on the whole it was very eventful

Day 1. ISTANBUL

Your group transfer will pick you up at one of Istanbul's airports and we will start exploring Istanbul after settling in the city center.

Modern City Center

We will start with a visit to Taksim Square and walk from it along the famous Istiklal Street directly to the Galata Tower.

We will have lunch at a restaurant in one of the galleries on Istiklal Street.

On our way along the street we will visitthe Church of Anthony of Padua, a real piece of Italy in the center of Istanbul. We'll climb to the topof the Galata Towerfor one of the best views of the city, then cross the Galata Bridge and find ourselves in the historic center of the city.

Two Mosques

Now it's time to visit two of Istanbul's most famous mosques opposite each other: the Blue Mosque and the Ayia Sofia. The Hagia Sophia is famous for its massive dome, and is considered the epitome of Byzantine architecture. It remained the largest cathedral in the world for nearlya thousand years, until 1520. Both structures will amaze you with their scale and give you some of the most unforgettable moments from your stay in Istanbul.

Day 2. PALACE AND ISLANDS

Topkapi Palace

The Grand Topkapi Palace was one of the main residences of the sultans of the Ottoman Empire for almost 400 years. The palace complex consists of four main courtyards and many smaller buildings. At its peak, the palace was home to 4,000 people and occupied a large area with a long coastline. It contained mosques, a hospital, a bakery and a mint. You'll see all of this fr om the inside, and as a bonus you get another great view of the Bosporus.

The Prince's Islands

These islands were once used to imprison the sons of Byzantine kings, but today they are known for their sandy beaches, old wooden buildings and their clean air.

We begin this tour with a boat ride on the Bosphorus and the Sea of Marmara. The trip takes 1 hour toward the first island. After arriving at the largest of the islands, time for lunch at a restaurant with a wide variety of seafood and free time on the island.

In the afternoon we return to Istanbul, wh ere you will have some free time to visit the markets

Day 3. NORTHERN ISTANBUL

Another mosque and another palace

In the morning we will visit the magnificent Süleymaniye Mosque and then move to the elegant palace on the Bosphorus, which is one of the most magnificent symbolic structures of the changing identity of the 19th century Ottoman Empire. The palace sits on an area of 110,000 square meters with a magnificent view of the Bosphorus. The interior will amaze you with itsmagnitude, just like the might of the Ottoman Empire of that time.

The "crossing of the strait" fortress

Then we move north and visit the fortress located in the very north of Istanbul, on a hill on the European side of the Bosphorus. Fr om the walls of the fortress you can admire a great view of the Bosphorus, and after the visit we will walk along the Bosphorus to the elite district Bebek, wh ere we will have a coffee.

After the fortress we move across the bridge to the Asian part of the city, where we will have a late lunch in a restaurant with panoramic views of the Bosphorus and the European part of Istanbul.

Departure to Cappadocia

The same evening, we take a direct flight from Istanbul to Cappadocia and check into a hotel

Day 4. INTRODUCTION TO CAPPADOCIA

Pigeon Valley and the highest point of Cappadocia

On the morning of the first day, we will show you the many pigeon lodges in Pigeon Valley. Most of thesecave dwellings are painted white to attract the birds and their valuable droppings. Hiking in the valley will take no more than 1 hour, after which we will climb to the top of Cappadocia's tallest fortress! Afterwards, we can visit the tasting room of one of Cappadocia's 2 main wineries.

Pottery Town

Our next stop is Pottery Town, where there are many family-owned potteryworkshops. These renowned potters make wonderful souvenirs, with everything from simple ashtrays and mugs to decorative plates and chess sets available for purchase. We will visit one of the pottery stores and a local ethnographic museum located in an old Ottoman mansion.

We have lunch in the same town, at a restaurant whose specialty is all sorts of giblet soups, and there is even a soup with lamb brains.

Lookouts and hiking

Next up are all sorts ofviewpointsin Cappadocia. It all looks like a sculptural zoo created by nature. The first classphotosfor Instagram in each of the locations are guaranteed to you!

In the evening - 2-3 hours hiking in the valleys around Gereme, and a picturesquesunset overlooking the valleys.

Day 5. WALKING IN CAPPADOCIA

Monk Valley

In the Pashabag Valley are some of the most striking "fairy chimneys" in Cappadocia with double and even triple stone roofs. This style is unique even to Cappadocia, and these fairy chimneys are calledmushroom-shaped chimneys. We will see even more bizarre figures in the valley of the imagination on the same day.

Open Air Museum

The open-air museum, which once housed one of the largest communities in the region, is an amazingcave city dotted with dwellings, religious and secular spaces. Here we will see a cave mosque with a minaret, old examples of Cappadocian architecture and religiousfrescoes.

Lunch in Guereme at a restaurant serving traditional Cappadocian cuisine and local wine.

The Valley of Love and the route through the valleys

We will visit both the Valley of Love lookout and descend into it for a series of colorful photos. Later in the evening, we'll take the mainhiking route of the tour into the valleys of Cappadocia, surrounded by bizarre geological formations and the life of the locals. You will also see stunning early Christian churches hidden in the valleys.

In the evening, another picturesquesunset at the best observation point around Gereme.

Day 6. FRINGES OF CAPPADOCIA

Underground City

Checking out of the hotel and wondering what are the underground cities of Cappadocia? These troglodyte cave cities date back to Hittite times and expanded over the centuries as various marauding armies crisscrossed Central Anatolia in search of prisoners and plunder. There are 36 underground cities in Cappadocia, and we will visitthe deepest of them all. While the underground city consists of 8 stories underground, only 4 of them are open to the public.

Canyon and Monastery

We will walk tothe canyon, which is about 100m deep and was formed by the river Melendiz thousands of years ago. It is believed that the valley housed more than four thousand dwellings and one hundred cave churches, decorated with frescoes. It is nice to walk through the valley among vineyards, poplars and pistachio trees with the soft sound of rushing water, surrounded by rich wildlife

Lunch here in the canyon itself in the restaurant on the water.

After lunch we visit the monumental monastery with the cathedral that was the seat of the diocese of all Cappadocia in Christian times.

Departure home

In the evening, transfer and fly home from Kayseri or Nevşehir (connection in Istanbul)

Moves in Cappadocia average 1-2 hours per day. Walks (hiking) - not difficult, but for 1-2 hours each. There are not very steep climbs up about 1 km. Please consider this if you have any contraindications.

- In case of forecasted wind speed of over 10m/s the balloon flights are cancelled (this is clear only a day before the flight), for this reason it is better to try to leave on the first morning of your stay in Cappadocia

- We move on foot (through the streets of Istanbul and the valleys of Cappadocia), and over long distances we travel in a minibus or by car (of course you are on passenger seats, so there is no need to drive).

- In the program it is possible to change the order of the attractions between the days or within a day due to the change of their working hours or weather conditions.

- This is not a trekking tour, but the tours have hiking routes in nature for 1-2 hours each. There are non-creepy climbs up about 1 km. Please take this into account if you have any contraindications.
